The grade six student and his father Greg lost their locks yesterday morning at Lockwood South Primary School.
“We got up in front of the school and the (hairdresser) went from there,” he said.
So far Declan has raised $1700 with the support of his local hockey club and school.
The money will help the Leukaemia Foundation support those with cancer.
Declan’s uncle died four years ago after a battle with cancer.
School chaplain Megan Haddon said the school might be small, but every one of its 24 students had been hard at work helping raise funds.
“Last term our grade six leadership team organised a crazy hair day. The grade six students then colored and styled all other students’ hair,” she said.
