Hundreds of students from across central and northern Victoria will compete at the La Trobe University Bendigo athletics complex in Retreat Road, Flora Hill.
First events are at 9.45am. For the first time, walks will be contested.
Home-track advantage is what the Bendigo students will be aiming to capitalise on.
Bendigo Senior Secondary College has a strong squad which includes several who have competed at national championships or on the Victorian Athletics League circuit.
Athletes to watch in the Lions squad include Maddie Lawson in the 16 girls’ 400m, high jump and long jump; Lonain Burnett in the 18-20 boys’ 100m, 200m, 400m; Kirrily Hall in the 18-20 girls’ 100m, 200m; and Michael Preece in the 18-20 boys’ 1500m, 3000m, high jump and long jump.
BSSC’s stars at the Sandhurst division finals included Caleb Argus, Alice Schenker and Amy Jackson.
Event winners progress to the SSV finals at Albert Park on October 23.
Runners-up in the 1500m and 3000m runs, and the walks also qualify for the state finals.
