Bendigo City FC slumped to its heaviest loss of the NPL Victoria season on Saturday.
The young Bendigo team suffered a 7-1 loss to the Moreland Zebras at C.B. Smith Reserve.
Despite being reduced to 10 men after 21 minutes, Moreland had too much class and strength for Bendigo.
The Zebras led 3-0 at half-time, before Godwill Basha gave Bendigo City a lifeline with fine goal.
However, Moreland steadied and added four more goals in the second half.
The result leaves Bendigo City in eighth place on the west conference ladder. Bendigo City is at home against Ballarat this Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Bendigo City under-20 team went down 10-1 to Moreland on Saturday.
Moreland led 7-0 at half-time before Bendigo put in a more competitive showing in the second half.
The under-20s remain in eighth place on the ladder.
