Bendigo police Sergeant Frank Peiffer said the incident happened about 4.15am.
“Police had another car pulled over in Mundy Street and were dealing with that car when another car came out of a nearby street, did a burnout in front of them and sped off,” he said.
“He was going 155km/h in a 60km/h zone.
“Police abandoned the pursuit because it was deemed too dangerous but we had identified the vehicle, so we made inquiries and caught up with the alleged offender.
“A 19-year-old male was arrested and interviewed in relation to conduct endangering persons and traffic offences.
“He’ll be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.”
Sergeant Peiffer said the pursuit took place in Sternberg Street.
