BENDIGO'S Jaclyn Wilson has continued her reign as Australia's top female BMX rider.
Wilson, a multiple national and world champion, won both the 25-39 years 20-inch and cruiser finals at the Australian National BMX Championships in Bathurst last week.
She was among four Bendigo riders to earn Australian plates at the championships.
Kailen O'Grady was runner-up in the 14-year-old boys class, while Bendigo club mates Sammy O'Grady (10-year-boys) and Matt White (junior elite men) finished fourth in their respective classes.
It was a fantastic result for the club which had 22 riders competing across 18 of the 69 classes of racing.
Wilsons defence of her dual national titles did not come without incident, including a collision with a kangaroo on the drive to Bathurst.
A bindi problem proved a thorn in the side of most riders.
The last thing you want is a puncture before your final or before your race, Wilson said.
So we were running around getting extra tubes.
The track was also very difficult, which is great because it gives you a new challenge and really had you thinking what you needed to do to master the track.
There were quite a few jumps that were extremely challenging.
Wilson went into the titles with a back injury, sustained at an open race meeting in Melbourne in January, and will use the next few weeks to recover before a series of open race days and club meets in Bendigo.
She has vowed to defend her titles when the championships are staged in Brisbane in May next year.
Meanwhile, anyone wishing to join the Bendigo BMX Club can attend gate practice each Tuesday from 5.30pm at the Eaglehawk track on the corner of Victoria Street and Upper California Gully Rd.
