Bendigo golfers fight to avoid relegation at Country Week 

BENDIGO must beat Goulburn Valley in today’s golf clash at Long Island to avoid releagation from shield division at Melbourne Country Week.

The Bendigo line-up endured a tough second day in the teams event played at Keysborough.

In the morning round, Sunraysia scored a 5-4 win against Bendigo.

Winners for the BDGA were Neangar Park’s Lucas Herbert, Bendigo’s Lincoln Ferrari, Axedale’s Lex Johnstone and Kyneton’s Garth George.

In the afternoon round, Bendigo stuggled against the ladder-leading Peninsula.

Neangar Park clubmates Eric Barclay and Phil DeAraugo were victorious, while Ferarri halved his match as Peninsula took honours, 6 1/2 to 2 1/2.

Bendigo’s team is Phil DeAraugo, Lucas Herbert, Eric Barclay, Braiden Connor, James Rogers (Neangar Park),; Brent Rothacker, Lincoln Ferrari  (Bendigo); Lex Johnstone (Axedale); Garth George (Kyneton); John Howorth     (Castlemaine).
