Miss Bettie B Goode – as Ms Maywood is known to her fans – is collecting votes to qualify for Miss Pinup Australia 2013.
If shortlisted, Ms Maywood will represent central Victoria in a battle of the vintage glamourzons to claim the title of Australia’s “Miss VaVaVoom”.
Ms Maywood, an avid fan of the 1950s rockabilly lifestyle, said she is rarely seen without her trademark vintage style.
“I believe it brings out true femininity and fun for women,” she said.
The La Trobe tourism graduate said she hoped to inspire other young women to fall in love with the era.
Ms Maywood channels her passion through local groups the Rockin 50s Rock’n’Roll Club, Veteran Vintage Car Club, The Bendigo Trust, Bevan Trimble Rover Scouts and La Trobe University Students’ Association. Successful finalists across seven categories will be announced in coming weeks.
State finals will be held in February next year and national winners judged in June.
