A group has travelled from the area since 2009 with the help of a flood grant.
The bus leaves the area in the morning and returns late in the afternoon.
Organiser Elaine Murphy said it was light relief during what had been a trying time for some in the region. “In the past few years we’ve been through the drought, then we were burnt, then we were flooded,” she said.
Barfold resident Briony Barker had caught the bus to Elmore for the past four years.
She said the bus was a great opportunity for the community to get together.
“It’s a great chance to talk to each other,” she said.
“I mean, we’re pretty much held captive for an hour and a half.”
Mrs Barker said while there were no group sing-alongs, there was “quite a buzz of conversation” in the bus.
She said the group enjoyed the scenic trip up to Elmore.
“It was lovely. I’m always driving so I can’t see the scenery, so it was great to have a look,” she said.
