It is understood police found drug-making equipment while searching an address in Jacob Street, White Hills, for stolen property on Thursday.
One of the men being questioned over the clandestine laboratory appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates Court yesterday.
Madison Martin, 19, appeared via video link for a remand hearing on unrelated charges.
Prosecuting, Leading Senior Constable Dave Somerton said Martin had been granted bail on Thursday on charges of theft and possessing a controlled weapon.
“After he was released he was taken back into police custody after police found items at his house from a burglary at the White Hills Animal Hospital on September 6,” Leading Senior Constable Somerton said.
“As a consequence of this, police also found evidence of a clandestine lab at his house.” Leading Senior Constable Somerton said members of Victoria Police’s Clandestine Laboratory Squad had arrived from Melbourne yesterday morning.
“They made their way to the address straight away. The area has to be secured and made safe before anything further can be done.”
Martin was remanded on a charge of handling stolen goods, and his bail for the previous charges was revoked.
Leading Senior Constable Somerton said Martin was being interviewed about the clandestine laboratory. “The expected outcome is that Mr Martin will face charges in relation to what’s been found.”
Magistrate Bruce Cottrill adjourned the case until Monday.
