Michael Darmody, 49, of California Gully, and Bradley Roberts, 24, of Long Gully, faced Bendigo Magistrates Court unrepresented this afternoon and both made unsuccessful applications for bail.
They are charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, intentionally causing injury, assault, threats to kill, aggravated burglary and possession of an unregistered firearm.
Police allege Darmody and Roberts, who were armed with a firearm and a knife, accosted a Kangaroo Flat man in Happy Valley Road around midnight.
Police say the 24-year-old was forced to drive the men to an address in Symes Street, Kangaroo Flat, where he managed to escape and lock his alleged captors out of the house.
The two men then smashed down the door of the house and made more threats before leaving the area. They were arrested in High Street just before 2am.
Darmody and Roberts have been remanded until December 12.
