The crash happened on Sparrowhawk Road, Long Gully about 9.20am.
It is believed the man drove out of a residential driveway, lost control of his car and flipped it into a large, storm water drain nearby.
Witness Renee Ahern said the man, her sister’s partner, had nearly freed himself from the vehicle by the time emergency services had arrived.
“When we came over he was talking and he tried to get out himself anyway,” she said.
“He was nearly out by the time everyone got here.”
He appeared uninjured as he was treated by ambulance workers.
He later walked away unharmed.
