Vietnam veteran Robert Bail of the Kangaroo Flat RSL said it was important people know the money raised for the Remembrance Day campaign goes towards looking after local diggers.
There are over 20 local veterans older than 90-years-old who we look after, he said.
We mow their laws, do their gutters get them taxi vouchers to go to the shops...
And Mr Bail said it wasnt just used to look after veterans from the world wars in their old age, but also helping former-soldiers readjust to civilian life after modern wars.
Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan we dont discriminate, he said.
Weve been giving a lot of support recently to one younger veteran from the Irag war.
Red poppies are now on sale ahead of the Remembrance Day on November 11.
