Bridegroom: Callum Gordon
Wedding date: February 28, 2015
The Meeting
We’d been at the same school for two years already but had really only known each other by name. As fate would have it though, we landed in almost every class together in year 12 and, as they say, the rest is history.
The Proposal
Callum convinced me to make a trip to Werribee Zoon on a rare day we both had off back in July 2014. Knowing how much I love Werribee Mansion, Callum slyly decided to bypass the zoo and visit it first because “I know how much you like it”. After walking around the grounds for some time, we were heading back across the massive lawn when Cal paused and confessed he hadn’t come to see the zoo. Next thing I knew he was on bended knee with ring in hand. It was perfect.
The Wedding Day
We were married at our local church here in Bendigo, St John’s Presbyterian on Forest Street, followed by an afternoon tea in the hall for all those who attended the ceremony.
We held a smaller reception for close family and friends at The Boardwalk later that night, which was absolutely beautiful.
I had my sister Emily as my maid of honour and my now sister-in-law Paige and my brother’s wife Sarah as my bridesmaids. My flower girls were my cousins’ little girls, Grace, Makayla, Samantha, Madeline and Sahara. Callum had my brother James as his best man, and his brother Bryce and friend Nick as groomsmen.
Flowers were by Miranda from Eternal Vase. The Music Trio played live for our reception and were fantastic. Hair was done at home by Emma from Boudoir Hair and Beauty.
The Dress
My dress came from Bendigo Bridal Collection. Bron and the girls were great to work with and made everything a breeze. My dress was ivory lace with a detachable second train and removable bolero. I also wore a cathedral length veil with diamente edging. My bridesmaids’ dresses came from Belles & Bows Bridal.
The Cake
Our cake was made by Nicole from Bake Me I’m Yours. It was three tiers with a damask stenciling. Nicole was so helpful and even allowed a different flavour for each tier. It was delicious to say the least!
The Photographer
We had Jamie Harrison as our photographer and couldn’t have asked for anyone better. He made us smile the whole day and fitted in like he was part of the family. We couldn’t recommend him highly enough.
The Honeymoon
We flew to Sydney on the Monday to catch our cruise ship to the Pacific Islands for eight nights. No cooking and tropical islands – perfect!
