The Road to Respect Roadshow is the latest road safety campaign from VicRoads.
The truck was parked at Hargreaves Mall this weekend, with curious visitors invited to step inside and see what it’s like to drive a heavy vehicle.
The truck has fact boxes and videos, which show how common accidents between trucks and other roads users occur and how they can be avoided.
Interactive displays invite users to guess truck’s blind spots, braking distance and stopping speed.
Road to Respect driver and presenter Glen Schmidtke said the initiative was instigated by VicRoads after analysis showed car drivers need to be educated on sharing the roads with trucks.
Figures show 70 per cent of all collisions between heavy vehicles and other road users are not the fault of the truck driver.
“The key message to get out there is all road users have to respect each other and share the road safely,” Mr Schmidtke said.
