On the back of a massive win last week to level the series, Falcons went on with the job to take out yet another championship at Eaglehawk.
Falcons starting pitcher Troy Waterman got off to a flyer, shutting out Dodgers in the first inning.
When it was Falcons’ turn to bat, they put the foot down early.
The perennial champs scored six runs in the opening innings, mostly on the back of some errors and poor plays by Dodgers.
There was also some strong hitting from Falcons, in particular off the bat of Sheldon Christie and Brad Muns.
The 6-0 score after just 20 minutes was disheartening for Dodgers supporters, who had seen their team win the first week of this series.
However, in the top of the second inning, Dodgers gave their supporters something to cheer about.
Almost every player in the inning hit safely to the outfield. Dodgers scored four off Waterman before he was brought off and replaced with week-one pitcher Christie, then Geoff Holland hit to right field and scored two more.
With a tied game on the board, Falcons replied with two more and two more in the inning after that.
From the fourth inning to the sixth, the score of 10-6 stayed put on the scoreboard.
This was due to reliable pitching from Scott Wise and Christie.
In a last-ditch attempt, Dodgers scored one run in the sixth, but it was off errors made by Falcons.
Time beat the Dodgers and Falcons enjoyed a comfortable three-run victory.
Although beaten in the end, it was a top effort from Dodgers after they struggled early in the season.
While Falcons stood up in the finals when it mattered, it seems the competition is closing the gap on the champions.
Dodgers should be back vying for the title again next season, while Bendigo East and Scots will also be in the race after improved seasons.
