The hearing, set for Monday, October 15, will discuss legal issues relating to the planning scheme raised in the July hearing.
“This new hearing will consider whether the proposed installation and use of the additional machines at Bendigo Stadium actually requires a planning permit," City of Greater Bendigo's director of planning and development Prue Mansfield said.
“Following this hearing, VCAT will deliberate and review evidence from both hearings and will make a decision on this issue within four to five weeks."
The initial hearing in July sat for four days and heard two appeals concurrently with the CoGB contesting the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation's approval of 30 new licences at the stadium and the Bendigo Stadium appealing against the CoGB's refusal to approve a planning permit for the machines.
The City of Greater Bendigo has adopted a policy that states it is opposed to more machines in the municipality.
By June punters had injected more than $43.5 million into pokies in the Greater Bendigo region for the 2011-12 financial year.
