A BENDIGO task unit cracking down on anti-social behaviour has caught eight underage youths attempting to enter licensed premises since it began operating two months ago.

The task unit has also summoned 26 people to court with charges relating to theft, assaults and drug possession.
Eight people were banned from premises and 23 people were arrested for drunken disorderly behaviour.
Sergeant Greg Gentry said the unit was created to tackle anti-social behaviour in high-risk community locations.
Police targeted CBD night spots at the weekend and the area from Hargreaves Mall to the train station in the afternoon.
They also targeted known offenders. “(The unit) is in response to where we know the problems to be,” Sergeant Gentry said.
“It is a dedicated resource to combat the principal problems in Bendigo, based on crime statistics and information gathered.”
Sergeant Gentry warned potential offenders that the taskforce was “out there and looking”.
“We are out there and we are catching offenders every night,” he said.
“Underage kids who think they can get into nightclubs can expect to get caught and receive large fines.
“Anyone who loans their ID can also expect to get a large fine.
“We’re out there, we’re looking for them.”
