A CFS spokesperson said a fire in a coal deposit had been contained but firefighters are continuing to attend to smoldering coal dust on the sixth and seventh levels of the power station.

They also said the original cause of the fire is unknown, and power supplies across the state would not be disrupted. 

Crews were called to the building just before 11am on Sunday, June 7, after an explosion on the fifth level of the complex.

Two Metropolitan Fire Service personnel have been taken to hospital for their injuries.

One of the injured is a man in his mid-20s who was flown to Adelaide to receive treatment to facial and arm burns.

A woman in her 40s was taken to the Port Augusta Hospital with back injuries following the explosion.

Firefighters from Country Fire Service and Metropolitan Fire Service were still on the scene late Sunday afternoon along with police and State Emergency Service crews.

A CFS spokesperson said crews were still on scene and are attempting to prevent the fire spreading to 70 tonnes of coal which sits adjacent to the power plant.

There is currently no further information on the injuries sustained to the other two victims.

Alinta Energy were expected to issue a statement on the incident late Sunday.
