Abrams played a key role in the working of the regional administration centre from July, 2013.
AFL Central Victoria general manager Paul Hamilton said Abrams had a major influence on football and netball in the region.
He played a crucial role in the running of the BFNL and worked closely with the BFNL board to provide clubs with a professional service.
Hamilton said Abrams was instrumental in several initiatives.
Those include:
Formation of new websites for AFL Central Victoria and the BFNL.
Improved communications through the launching of the AFLCV newsletter and social media portal as well as the re-launch of a new football record for the BFNL.
Vision provided for every senior BFNL game.
Improved player welfare through the relationship with Headspace and Sports Chaplaincy Australia.
Themed rounds, including the Indigenous and Multicultural rounds that are now annual events.
Building of partnerships between businesses and both the AFLCV and the BFNL
“Justin has played an important role over the past two years and we thank him for the contribution he has made to the game," Hamilton said.
Bendigo FNL president Carol McKinstry also praised Abrams.
“Justin has lifted the professionalism of the league and has worked closely with the board in improving services to clubs.
"On behalf of the BFNL board and clubs, we thank him for his efforts”.
Abrams will remain in his role until the end of April when he will then pursue a business opportunity.
