Network Ten has quietly announced the final date for The Shire, with the adventures of Mitch, Beckaa, Vernesa and Sophie to depart our airwaves on Monday, September 10.

The headline-making "dramality" series, set in Sydney's Sutherland Shire, has been shifted around the television schedule continually, even before it went to air, when it was delayed pending a re-edit before it was suddenly slotted into the schedule at short notice.
Since then, The Shire has moved from a debut at 8pm on Monday to a Wednesday slot and finally, and quietly, to a 9.45pm Monday slot in the fall-out from the axing of Everybody Dance Now.
Having opened to an audience of 941,000 in the metro capitals, it has played to an ever-dwindling audience and was watched by a mere 204,000 last Monday, ranking 55th for the evening.
In the announcement of the show's debut, Ten's now-departed chief programming officer, David Mott, said: "The Shire will be a show that captivates, amuses and, dare we say, astounds audiences.
"It's fun, it's feisty and it can't be stopped."
It can and the show's finale will be only the ninth episode in total, though a network spokesperson said the series has always had a "fluid" number of episodes.
