Schenck decided to compete in more competitions this year and was rewarded with the state title, defeating Rod Nelson in a marathon final at Yarraville.
"It was a four hour final, so it went for a long time," he said.
"After about the two hour mark I was struggling and didn't think I would be able to pull through but I was able to battle on."
The final score was Schenck 128, 95, 85, 69, 61, 54, 45, 42 (1074) against Nelson 126, 74, 50, 46, 42 (853).
Schenck, a member of the VRI, said it was great feeling to win the championship.
"It is one of the biggest tournaments of the year, so I am fairly happy with how I have played," he said.
Ryan Bowland was also crowned the A-minor championship after defeating Castlemaine man Glenn Taylor in the final.
Schenck said it was good to see other players from across the region also do well at the tournament.
Schenck has been in good form this year, he was also crowned the champion at the 150-up Billiards Championship in August.
"The tournament was about playing to a score not to a time," he said.
The state title win has now guaranteed Schenck a spot in the Australian championships next year.
"I have automatically qualified for those titles which will be played in Yarraville again, so that should be good," he said.
Schenck said most of the billiards competitions had finished for the year, he says he will be spending his time training for the national titles.
