Women (and a few men) turned out in their finery to support the Bendigo Bosom Buddies - a group of 14 women who raise money for Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre by participating in the 60-kilometre Weekend to End Women's Cancer.
The group formed last year and raised $46,000 for the event held in March this year.
None of the 14 members have suffered cancer personally, but they have all been touched by cancer by seeing their loved ones suffer.
In a speech to the couple of hundred guests that turned up to the Foundry Hotel for Tuesday's fundraiser, Bosom Buddy Carla Jeffrey said money raised would pay for research and the cost of care for women undergoing treatment.
"But we fundraise in honour of all cancer patients, men, women and children," she said.
Ms Jeffrey thanked the 28 sponsors of the day, especially principal sponsors D-Club gym, fashion label Pollyanna and Bamboo Beauty Lounge.
Beck Chalmer of radio station 3BO got the crowd loosened up with plenty of jokes - especially at the expense of the few men who attended.
Member of the Bendigo Bosom Buddies Shannon McMahon said her first time walking the 60 kilometres was "very emotional".
