LAST Sunday I was fortunate enough to purchase the last two tickets to see the Bendigo Theatre Company's production of Chicago.

Yes, it was a sell-out, and what can I say except that it was marvellous, a real credit to everyone involved in the show.
The real reason as to why I went was that I had seen Chicago last March on Broadway in New York and what a disappointment it was.
While the singing and orchestra was great, this took up almost the entire stage, which left almost no room for performers.
Therefore the only props they had were a ladder (which I think was meant to depict the jail) and a few wooden chairs.
There were no costume changes, so at times I was a little confused as to who the characters were meant to be as they always wore the same clothes.
So congratulations to Bendigo - the costumes were superb and even the program was of top standard and only cost $5.
The only downside was that it only ran for a few days, as I would have recommended to friends and most likely have gone again.
Well done, I can’t wait for the next show.
