HEATHCOTE will be sparkling this weekend for the return of its annual food and wine festival. Organisers are counting their blessings with fine weather forecast across the weekend, including a maximum temperature of 24 on Sunday. The organising committee is expecting about 4000 people to visit the Heathcote Showgrounds across the Saturday and Sunday. Many of them will travel from Melbourne. Chairperson Richie Condie, from Condie Estate, said festival-goers would have the chance to sample great wines from more than 40 local wineries. “Add to the sunshine great music, children's activities, regional food producers and vendors and it's easy to see the excitement on offer at the Heathcote Wine and Food Festival in the one of Australia's premier wine region,” he said. A popular addition to the festival line-up is a shiraz masterclass with Gourmet Traveller wine writer Nick Stock. The festival runs from 10.30am-5.30pm both days.
