HUNTLY midfielder Harry Whittle capped this year's return to the Hawks by winning the Heathcote District Football League's Rising Star award.

Playing in the centre or across half-forward, Whittle's consistency was a highlight in Huntly's season.

The 18-year-old rated this season as his best.

"Defensive efforts was an area I worked at a lot."

His toughest opponents included Leitchville-Gunbower’s Brad Perry and LBU coach Adrian Dohnt.

Whittle had spent the previous two years with Golden Square’s under-18s.

The HDFL's Public Vote award was won by Heathcote's Daniel Russell on 27.

Leading goalkicker in the seniors was White Hills' Ricky Symes on 59.

The Tom Morgan medal for reserves best and fairest was won by Mount Pleasant's Jeremy Brewer, 25, from Colbinabbin's Stephen Madden, 18.

Mount Pleasant's Rhys Deacon polled 29 votes to claim the David Roulston Medal as under-17s champion from Heathcote's Josh Formosa on 26.
