BENDIGO police say a motorcycle was stolen from a residential Eaglehawk property sometime between 5pm yesterday and 1.30am this morning.
Sergeant Mick McCrann said the bike was a black, 2009 Yamaha SZ and is valued at $10,000.
He said the bike was securely locked in a shed, and had a steer lock as well, but it appeared the thief knew of its whereabouts and came prepared.
"It appears the owner has done everything right but we suspect the offenders may have known there was a motorcycle in there and came prepared to deal with the locks," he said.
"It appears the owners were in Western Australia (at the time of the burglary) and police will conduct a doorknock of the neighbourhood today."
The theft comes after teenager Harry Smith's motorcycle was stolen from Golden Square in July.
Sergeant McCrann said there wasn't a trend of motorbike thefts in Bendigo.
He called on anyone with information on the theft to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
