Last time: Round 6, 2014: Campbells Creek 9.11 (65) d Dunolly 6.16 (52).
Since 2004: Campbells Creek 9; Dunolly 6.
DUNOLLY - the Eagles will be aiming to avenge their round six loss to Campbells Creek when they had more scoring shots, but inaccuracy proved costly in a 13-point defeat. Chasing their second win of year.
CAMPBELLS CREEK - suffered an upset loss to Maldon last round that has narrowed the Creekers’ buffer inside the top eight to just one game. Is the pressure of trying to end a 15-year finals drought starting to show?
TIP: Campbells Creek by 16.
HARCOURT v CARISBROOK - 2.35pm Saturday at Harcourt.
Last time: Round 3, 2014: Carisbrook 17.17 (119) d Harcourt 5.6 (36).
Since 2004: Carisbrook 13; Harcourt 8.
HARCOURT - the Lions have won just five games, but have given themselves a sniff of playing finals. They belted Dunolly by 86 points last week are now within four points of the top eight.
CARISBROOK - plenty of talk about Navarre and Lexton, but the Redbacks are lurking ominously in third position and coming off a 92-point thumping of Newstead. Should be too slick for the desperate Harcourt.
TIP: Carisbrook by 45.
LEXTON v AVOCA - 2.35pm Saturday at Lexton.
Last time: Round 3, 2014: Lexton 18.14 (122) d Avoca 6.7 (43).
Since 2011: Lexton 5; Avoca 0.
LEXTON - for the third time in their four seasons in the MCDFL, the Tigers have won at least 13 games in a row. Matt Brown (59), Justin White (27), Justin Hobson (21) and James Cusack (21) all with at least 20 goals.
AVOCA - suffered a 94-point loss to Natte Bealiba last round in their third loss in a row. Doesn’t get any easier against the Tigers, who they are 0-5 against with an average losing margin of 87 points.
TIP: Lexton by 56.
NAVARRE v MALDON - 2.35pm Saturday at Navarre.
Last time: Round 9, 2014: Navarre 15.6 (96) d Maldon 4.3 (27).
Since 2011: Navarre 5; Maldon 1.
NAVARRE - Sam Newman would be happy the Grasshoppers’ kicking at goal this season. They are the only team in the region to be converting at better than 60 per cent with their return of 276.173.
MALDON - the Bombers are off the bottom of the ladder for the first time since round three after last round’s eight-point win over Campbells Creek. Stiff to cop Navarre for the second time in their past six games.
TIP: Navarre by 94 points.
NEWSTEAD v TRENTHAM - 2.35pm Saturday at Newstead.
Last time: Round 7, 2014: Newstead 12.14 (86) d Trentham 10.13 (73).
Since 2004: Newstead 17; Trentham 1.
NEWSTEAD - sitting in fourth position, but twice in their past five games against Carisbrook and Navarre have copped 90 point-plus hidings. Need to regain some spark with finals fast approaching.
TRENTHAM - the ladder suggests the Saints will be in for a tough day. But they were more than competitive against Newstead in round seven in a 13-point loss. Can they give the Steaders another scare?
TIP: Newstead by 37 points.
TALBOT v NATTE BEALIBA - 2.35pm Saturday at Talbot.
Last time: Round 7, 2014: Natte Bealiba 22.10 (142) d Talbot 9.14 (68).
Since 2011: Natte Bealiba 3; Talbot 1.
TALBOT - disappointing day for the Hawks last week, only kicking four goals in a 69-point loss to Royal Park. Haven’t beaten a side that’s currently in the top eight, but get another crack at it against the Swans.
NATTE BEALIBA - belted Avoca by 94 points last round and are within one game of the top four. Side was boosted last week with the inclusion of defender Jack Kennedy from injury in a timely pre-finals lift.
TIP: Natte Bealiba by 45.
ROYAL PARK v ROVERS - 2.35pm Sunday at Hedges Oval, Maryborough.
Last time: Round 1, 2014: Royal Park 18.16 (124) d Rovers 7.5 (47).
Since 2004: Rovers 11; Royal Park 6.
ROYAL PARK - too good for Talbot by 69 points last week and for the first time since 2004 now have 10 home and away wins. Jay Anderson and Matthew Walker two of Bushy’s in-form players.
ROVERS - went down to Royal Park by 77 points in the Maryborough Derby in round one. But if Rovers can replicate their efforts of the first and last quarters against Lexton last week, expect this to be closer.
TIP: Royal Park by 40.
