Dean advanced to the semi-finals of the sprint after some brilliant riding on Monday night.
He met Adelaide-based Korean Jeone Park in the semi-finals.
Dean rode well but lost two close races to the Korean star.
Dean bounced back strongly to defeat Frenchman Benjamin Gil in two-straight races to win the bronze medal.
Park went on to win the gold medal comfortably.
Dean’s bronze medal capped a fine performance in Korea by the Bendigo cycling ace. He finished fifth in the 1km time trial and seventh in the keirin.
Dean earned his place in the Australian team by dominating this year’s national championships.
He won gold in the keirin, 1km time trial and team sprint and was second behind Park in the individual sprint.
