BENDIGO cyclist Braeden Dean has finished fifth in the one kilometre time trial at the UCI Junior Track World Championships.

Dean narrowly missed out on winning a medal finishing less than a second behind Malaysia's Muhammad Firdau Modh Zonis, who finished third.
The 18-year-old, who is competing at the junior titles for the first time, also crossed the line in seventh place in men's keirin.
After missing an automatic qualifying spot, he won his repecharge heat to make the final.
The championships are being held in South Korea.
