Foreign cash found on road

Police have charged a Bendigo man for theft after he tried to deposit foreign cash into a bank in Bendigo.

Detective Senior Constable Jason Smith said the man, 44, found the cash on the ground on McIvor Road, near Crook Street Strathdale about 10.30am on Wednesday. 

Police were called to a bank after the man was observed trying to bank the foreign currency. 

The cash was made up of a variety of currencies but police do not wish to provide information on which currency or the amount. 

Detective Senior Constable Smith said anyone with information about where the money came from should contact Bendigo Crime Investigation Unit. 

The man charged with theft will face the Magistrate's Court on September 8.
