Thwaites sizzles, Cox sixth in shooting final in Glasgow

Thwaites, who didn’t see any court time in Saturday night’s thrilling one-goal win over England, scored 42 goals from just 50 attempts.

The victory ensured the Diamonds stayed on top of pool B ahead of Monday night's clash with Trinidad and Tobago.

Meanwhile, LaTrobe University Bendigo student Emma Cox has finished sixth in the women's double trap shooting final in Glasgow.

Cox scored 85 points, finishing nine points behind gold medal winner Charlotte Kerwood from England.

Cox's score of 85 was six points short of a bronze medal.

Fellow Bendigo shooter Geoff Grenfell started his bid for a second Commonwealth Games gold medal in the Queen's Prize individual event.

Grenfell, who won gold in 1994, will compete over three days against a world-class field of 34 shooters.

Bendigo hammer thrower Tim Driesen starts his Commonwealth Games campaign on Monday night (AEST).
