The 18-year-old will play in the Western Amateur Championship in Chicago from July 28-August 2 and the US Amateur Championship in Atlanta from August 11-17.
A top-two finish in the US Amateur Championship will earn Herbert a berth at Augusta next year.
Herbert, who has climbed to 16th in the world amateur rankings, has been invited to play against professionals in the Asia-Pacific Diamond Cup in Japan in late September.
The event, which was won by Japanese star Hideki Matsuyama last year, carries prizemoney of more than $1.5million.
The prestigious Eisenhower Trophy amateur event is also played in Japan in September. Golf Australia will select its three-man team at the completion of the US Amateur Championships.
Herbert, who won the Ivo Whitton series event in Barham last weekend, has recently joined highly-rated golf coach Denis McDade at Yarra Bend in Melbourne.
McDade also coaches Australian golf stars Marc Leishman and Marcus Fraser.
