Strathdale shines under Epsom's lights: PICTURES

STRATHDALE shone under Epsom’s lights as it scored a 2-1 victory in the Bendigo Amateur Soccer League’s women’s championship on Saturday night.

The Blues gained a two-goal lead by half-time following strikes by Tayla Evans in the round eight contest.

Epsom Scorpions struck back with a goal by Tara Thomas, but Strathdale took the points.

No goals were struck in the clash between championship leaders Colts United and Spring Gully at Strathfieldsaye.

BEST - Colts United: Rebecca Berry, Alishia Stratford, A. McDonald. Spring Gully: Nicole Ford, Jessica Smith, Mia Killick.

Eaglehawk fought on for a 2-1 win against Golden City at Truscott Reserve.

Both of the Borough’s goals were struck by Chloe Parker.

Chelsea McGovern was on target for City.

It was a high-scoring contest as Epsom and Strathdale played for the Kevin Merchant Memorial Trophy in the division one men’s clash under Epsom lights.

The Epsom line-up played well to be within a goal of the ladder-leading Strathdale at half-time.

A double by Sean Boxshall and another goal by Jon Bryers clinched a 3-2 win for Strathdale.

Epsom’s goals were struck by Brett Quin and Josh Williams.

Spring Gully achieved a 2-1 victory on Colts United’s turf at Strathfiledsaye.

Joel Bish and Dennis Barnett scored Gully’s goals.

Colts United’s goal was struck by Dylan Callaway.

BEST - Colts United: Josh Raeburn, Dylan Callaway, Daniel Berry,  Spring Gully: Josh Baum, Ben Lowndes,  Jakob van Dalen.

Eaglehawk dominated its clash with Golden City at Truscott Reserve.

The Hawks led 2-0 at half-time and went on to win 5-1.

Goalscorers for Eaglehawk were not supplied. City’s goal was scored by Josh Hutchins.

In the men’s division two competition, Strathdale scored a 7-2 win at Epsom.

Spring Gully beat Colts United, 7-1; Eaglehawk defeated Swan Hill, 3-1; and Moama Border Raiders won 2-0 against Golden City.

In the youth championship matches, Strathdale beat Epsom, 6-0; Swan Hill won 3-1 at Eaglehawk; and Golden City scored a 3-2 win against Moama Border Raiders.
