The charity will hold a fundraising golf day on August 24 and aims to collect $12,000 to purchase the machine.
Charity vice president Ang Cail said the new machine would enable doctors to obtain blood test results of premature infants immediately, rather than having to wait.
She said the machine's speed would make a difference to parents who faced the anxiety of their baby's early arrival because doctors would be able to administer necessary treatment straight away.
"It’s heartbreaking to see your baby being born early when its not supposed to be," Ms Cail said.
Ms Cail's four children were all born premature as were the children of other volunteers at Loddon Mallee Kids. "We can understand having had premature babies ourselves, we know the heartache," she said.
She said the event on August 24 will be held at Elmore Golf Course and would be supported by local businesses. The main sponsor is National Australia Bank, plus five others all donating $500 each.
