England's Ricky Walden rules at table

ENGLAND'S Ricky Walden is through to Friday's quarter-finals at the $500,000 Australian Snooker Goldfields Open in Bendigo.

Walden scored a 5-2 victory in Thursday's second-round clash with Martin Gould at Bendigo Stadium in Marong Road.

Gould started wth a 74-38 win, before Walden won four in a row.

The 92-3 victory in frame two included a break of 86. 

The tournament's sixth seed, Walden won frame three, 91-0, and the next two, 70-56 and 67-58.

The run was stopped in the sixth as Gould won 107-0.

Walden dominated the next frame, 87-1, to wrap up the contest.

The night session as the Goldfields Open hits off at 7pm.

Last year's runner-up and Australia's No. 1 player, Neil Robertson plays Jamie Jones.
