The event is organised by the Ambulance Employees Australia union and aims to train the community in basic life-saving techniques
The initiative comes amid long-standing union action on poor ambulance response rates, low wages and inadequate resources.
Advanced life support paramedic Laura Lally said paramedics were not always able to reach patients in time to help.
"Knowing how to do CPR could save their lives, or their families' lives, in the event we can't get there," Ms Lally said.
The free lessons are at Bendigo Marketplace on Wednesday from 10am to 2pm.
