She has also had to dig through hundreds of dusty boxes for long lost pieces of paper that no one thought they'd need again.
"I’ve been the poor bunny rabbit who has had to find documents when they’re needed because either the tax office or someone has come back and said 'hang on, where was this signed off, where’s the proof?'," Ms Miles said.
Ms Miles has long wanted to put an end to the time wasting and tedium that she and many other office workers have been subjected to.
So she and husband Paul started Electronic Filing Solutions Australia to solve the problem.
They scan documents and arrange them on a memory stick or on an office's intranet, enabling businesses to become "paperless".
Documents produced years ago are found easily without searching, photocopying or printing.
"If you don’t have that signed piece of paper, it could cost your company if you don’t have proof of something," Ms Miles said.
She said her business was all about helping companies "streamline" their paperwork.
"People have got to see that this is the way of the future and they have got to get on top of it now," she said.
She said some people couldn't see the point in paying for a service that didn't directly make a profit.
But she said it was worth it for the time that could be saved and put towards other tasks.
"How long is it taking them to find documents and what do they have to go through to find the document?" she said.
Ms Miles said electronic filing was also vital in case of a fire.
She once had to leave her Maiden Gully home because of the threat of fires nearby.
"Birth certificates, marriage certificates - all my important documents - I could not get them, I didn’t have time," she said.
"I know that a lot of businesses don’t recover from a fire."
