After recent medal-winning performances at the Victorian Open, the local ballroom stars hope to impress the judges at the National Capital Dancesport Championships.
Experienced partners Sheldon Gilbert and Gemma Maillard are competing in the adult B-grade and open new vogue sections.
The pair, from Belle Etudes studio, won the B-grade new vogue competition together at the Vic Open in early June - their first major title in that division after several second placings.
Gilbert will also dance other disciplines in Canberra: standard ballroom with Sonja Budisa and latin with Yumiko Nishiyama, both of whom he won Vic Open medals with.
He is ranked number six in Australia for standard ballroom.
Rising stars Sam Brown, 11, and Berkley Wood, 10, will showcase their talent and skills in all three dancing styles in the juvenile B-grade section.
They only became partners in April, but have already enjoyed success in winning the juvenile B-grade new vogue title at the Vic Open and scoring three seconds in open division.
Bendigo youngsters Matthew and Nicola Foxwell, aged 13 and 11, will also be in action in the nation’s capital, contesting standard ballroom, latin and new vogue in the junior recreational section.
The duo had a very successful Vic Open, earning top-three placings in several of their events.
All four young dancers are with the Excell Dance Centre in Shepparton but have an association with iDance and train at their Bendigo studio.
