The Harcourt basketballer scored seven points in Australia's win over Mexico on Tuesday.
The final score was 60 to 30.
The Gliders' big first quarter helped to secure the win, with the Australian's shooting 21 points and keeping the opposition to just two.
Chaplin also ended the game with six assists and four rebounds.
The Gliders will now play the Netherlands in their final pool game on Wednesday morning.
The Netherlands have yet to lose a game in the championships so far, while Australia lost its only game to the United States on Saturday.
