After the success of last year’s inaugural trip north, a squad of 26 players has been selected to play for AFL Goldfields against representative teams from AFL Cairns and AFL Townsville/Mackay.
The squad includes six players from the Maryborough-Castlemaine District Football League.
The team will play against AFL Cairns at Cazaly Stadium from 2pm on Sunday, June 29.
The second game of the tour will be against AFL Townsville/Mackay at Tony Ireland Stadium on Wednesday, July 2, at 1pm.
The side will be coached by AFL Goldfields football development manager Brett Anderson.
Young umpires Liam McQualter and Paul McGarry will also make the trip.
• AFL Goldfields under-17 touring squad:
Maryborough-Castlemaine District: Joel Howell, Mitchell Whelan, Trent Mortlock, Tom Hannett, Dale Bott, Callan Wellings.
Riddell District: Jack Reaper, Ryan Baker, Connor Griffiths, Ryan Carter, Tom Alkemade, Dean Muir.
Central Highlands: Lachlan Pfeiffer, Cameron Lovig.
Ballarat: Billy Griffiths, Dylan Bishop, Hamish Coulton, Bailey Fraser, Will Garner, Jack Buttler, Sean Bourke, Tom Wakefield, Lloyd Meek, Jack Mason, Lakota Stranks, Xavier Curran.
