The battle of the BFL's top two teams lived up to expectation today as Golden Square and Gisborne played out a thrilling draw at MyJet Oval.
Golden Square led by 52 points early in the second quarter, but Gisborne fought back from the slow start, with the scores locked together at 14.10 (94) apiece in the best game of the season so far.
The draw guarantees Gisborne will finish on top of the ladder.
Meanwhile, there was almost another draw today, with Maryborough upsetting Strathfieldsaye by one point at Princes Park.
The Magpies won 10.9 (69) to 9.14 (68) in a game that ended with confusion after the scoreboard at the final siren indicated Strathfieldsaye had won.
The loss has cost the Storm any chance of finishing in the top three.

HEATHCOTE DISTRICT FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Heathcote proved too good for Colbinabbin, winning the qualifying final by 55 points at White Hills.
The Saints booted nine goals to one in the pivotal third quarter to win 19.12 (126) to 11.5 (71) and set up a second semi-final against Lockington-Bamawm United next week.
Huntly and North Bendigo meet in tomorrow's elimination final at Colbinabbin.
LODDON VALLEY FOOTBALL LEAGUE
NEWBRIDGE and Pyramid Hill have finished in the top three at the expense of Calivil United and Bears Lagoon-Serpentine after today's final round.

St Arnaud produced its best performance of the season to trounce Wycheproof-Narraport by 95 points and keep its finals hopes alive.
The Saints won 20.14 (134) to 5.9 (39), with Nicholas Coghlan kicking eight goals.

Lexton's Matt Brown brought up his 100th goal for the season in the Tigers' 291-point drubbing of Royal Park.
Brown kicked the eight goals he needed to get to 100 and was then rested in the Tigers' 44.28 (292) to 0.1 (1) win in the top versus bottom clash.

BENDIGO GOLD and PIONEERS
Both the Bendigo Gold and Bendigo Pioneers were beaten in their matches today.
The Gold lost to ladder-leaders Port Melbourne 16.10 (106) to 8.5 (53), meaning they are yet to shore up a finals berth.
The Pioneers went down to the Western Jets 15.10 (100) to 3.5 (23) in their last home game of the season.
