Cr Lyons is in Canberra as part of a two-day visit to the city to meet senior politicians and bureaucrats, who he is lobbying for funding.
Cr Lyons met with Senator Michael Ronaldson, Member for Mayo Jaimie Briggs and Member for Bendigo Lisa Chesters yesterday.
Cr Lyons has asked the federal government to contribute $5 million to the Greater Bendigo Indoor Aquatic Leisure and Well-being Centre and $5 million to a proposed upgrade of the Bendigo Airport, as well as money for other council projects.
He said the meetings went well.
"I'm pretty chuffed - we've had a great hearing," he said.
"I'm always confident ... Particularly with the airport and aquatic centre ... our ask isn't big.
"We know money is tight but we're here representing our city.
"It's just a matter of working through where we fit in the scheme of things.
"We'll keep working with Canberra and I'm sure we'll get some support."
Cr Lyons will meet with Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss and Member for Mallee Andrew Broad today.
