Organiser and year 9 student Ava Ward said a lot of the students had read about Kristy Thomson in the newspaper.
"Everyone knew that it could of happened to them," she said.
"We wanted to do something to give back to the community."
Ava said the school aimed to raise $1000.
She said money from a casual clothes day, the sale of pink ribbons and a barbecue would go to the appeal.
The donation will be presented to the appeal organisers at an assembly at the start of term 2.
Meanwhile a fund-raiser at the Goornong Recreation Reserve on Saturday will raise funds for the appeal also.
The event is on from 10am to 4pm.
There will be a jumping castle, fairy floss, a sausage sizzle, face painting and much more.
Kristy Thomson suffered serious spinal injuries when a tree fell in Rosalind Park on December 30.
Her four-year-old daughter, Patiya May, died.
