The awesome foursome, who train together at Palmer’s Gym, won their divisions while competing for their schools two weekends ago.
Clare Bracey and Emily Jones will compete at the national championships in Queensland next month after winning their pairs division.
Representing Bendigo Senior Secondary College, 17-year-old Bracey and Jones, 16, performed a 90-second aerobic routine with moves showing their strength, flexibility, agility and co-ordination.
“They were fantastic, they nailed it,” coach Sally Cartledge said. “I thought they would get to nationals by getting in the top four, but this is great.”
The pair had only performed the routine together once before, but got it just right in front of the state judges.
“We improved our routine a lot since last time,” Jones said.
“I don’t know (how), but I’m really excited (to go to the nationals),” Bracey added.
Young stars Kaitlyn Rosendale and Amelia Cartledge also won their title competing for St. Francis of the Fields.
The duo have been training at Palmer’s Gym for 18 months, but the state titles was the first time they’ve performed as a pair.
Rosendale, 10, and Cartledge, 9, only practiced together for six weeks leading into the titles.
“They did a fantastic routine,” Cartledge said.
