Hundreds of people are expected to turn out for the grand opening of the Viewpoint display village being held this weekend.
A total of 16 homes are going on display at the estate in Huntly on Saturday.
There will be a host of free family activities including a sausage sizzle, an animal farm, face painting, jumping castles and plaster painting.
Agent Tom Isaacs from PRD Nationwide said over 180 homes have now been finished and 60 new homes are under construction at the masterplanned community.
“It is going great,” he said.
“The main inquiry has been from families as well as first home owners.
"There is a good spread of buyers.
“There are around 15 residents living there so far with one to two coming on each week.
“They have made a start on the central park with a barbecue area and facilities for kids.
“It is a hive of activity."
Mr Isaacs said he was hoping the grand opening would draw in the crowds.
“This opening is a big milestone for the estate.
“We are hoping to get 400 to 600 people for the opening.
“Anyone looking to build in Bendigo can come along and see what it is like on a masterplanned community.
“There will be a lot of people around who know about the industry if they have any questions, and they can have a sausage and get their face painted.”
The event takes place on Saturday from 11am until 4pm.
Viewpoint is Bendigo’s newest and largest fully masterplanned community and features a choice of homes to suit a variety of budgets.
It is the result of collaboration between the City of Greater Bendigo, land developer Integra and Ethan Housing.
The initiative forms part of the Building Better Regional Cities Program and is aimed at easing housing stress in the area.
Situated in a growth corridor, the 856 planned homes will cater for an expanding population.
The first families moved into the estate in October last year.
