The inaugural Strathdale Legends XI v Presidents XI Twenty20 match will be played at Bell Oval from noon on Sunday.
The Legends XI will be captained by one of the greats of the Bendigo District Cricket Association, Barry Findlay.
"It should be some good fun on Sunday, but most importantly, it's for a good cause," Findlay said on Wednesday.
"If you can do anything to raise money and awareness for organisations like this, it's certainly well worth it."
While the match is for a good cause, it's still a game of cricket and Findlay expects the competitive juices for both teams to be flowing on Sunday.
"Once you're out there, you can pretend it's all a bit of fun, but you want to make sure you go well," Findlay said.
"Hopefully, it's a good fun day for everyone and both the club and Headspace do well out of it."
The always-competitive Presidents XI captain Cameron Taylor was happy to fire off the first salvo ahead of the game.
"It's a good opportunity for a few has-beens to come out of retirement and have a hit of cricket. I couldn't see them causing us too many hassles," Taylor said.
Headspace Bendigo is a community organisation that helps young people going through a tough time.
"We are really lucky and honoured to be working with the Strathdale team," Headspace Bendigo manager Jenny Singe said.
"The community awareness and funds they raise will help us and help young people who are going through a tough time. Their support and the community’s has been just wonderful."
The Twenty20 match is being supported by AFS.
"It's always good to help out local clubs and charities and give back to the community, so we're very happy to be involved," AFS' Damien Palmer said.
The two teams will play for the Pat Sheehan Shield. Entry is a gold coin donation.
The day will also include a junior clinic being held at Bell Oval from 10.30am to 11.30am.
