A BENDIGO Advertiser reader has expressed her disgust at the state in which popular holiday spot Greens Lake was left on New Year's Day.
Renée Lomas said her family camped at the lake during the festive season but would think twice about returning.
"It was pretty feral," she said.
"There were groups of people who came throughout the day on New Year's Eve - they weren't that bad until they had a few drinks.
"They started getting rowdy and the language was not acceptable, they were playing loud music and as the night went on the group got bigger.
"There were 15 year-old's walking around with Cruisers and alcohol."
Ms Lomas said the campers left garbage, a couch and empty bottles at the camp site.
She said there was vomit on the ground.
"You want to teach your kids to do the right thing," she said.
Police have charged a 17-year-old Kyabram boy after he allegedly glassed a Rochester boy, 17, on New Year's Eve at Greens Lake.
The teenager is in a stable condition at Bendigo Health.
The man is expected to face the Children's Court at a later date.
Detective Senior Constable Bernadette Wadding said the victim had sustained facial injuries.
"The victim is at Bendigo Health is a stable condition," she said.
"They're not life threatening but they are serious facial injuries."
Detective Senior Constable Wadding said the alleged incident occurred at a camp site about 11pm.
"There was some sort of an altercation prior to this one but I don't know if they were known to each other before that," she said.
