The program, run in partnership with the Salvation Army and the Bendigo Baptist and Connect churches, offers Bendigonians a free weekly lunch.
Community Meal coordinator Deborah Gates welcomed the donation.
“The people at Jenny’s Early Learning Centre have donated perishable food to put in our pantry,” she said. “We don’t get a lot of funds so it is awesome to see a local businesses supporting what we do.”
The program has been running in Bendigo for nine months. Mrs Gates said every Wednesday the Hilltop Café open its doors to the community.
“The lunch is for people in need of food or just in need of some company,” she said.
Mrs Gates said the initiative would close over Christmas before reopening on January 8.
