Collins, 24, played 36 AFL games with the Blues and Tigers.
He was delisted by Carlton after the 2013 season, and will now take on the coaching role at the four-time defending Loddon Valley Football League premiers.
Collins takes over from dual Bridgewater premiership coach Zac East.
