The 60-member choir rehearse on Thursday mornings with musicians from Girton Grammar School.
Girton Grammar School music teacher and choir founder Laura Dusseljee said for some members Thursday's rehearsal was the highlight of their week.
"There is something about singing in a group that is really exciting and fun," she said.
"They love it and I love them."
Ms Dusseljee said the choir members enjoyed interacting with the students.
"They love playing with the young ones," she said.
"I think it is really good for them to get out and mix with the students."
Choir member Frank Roberts said he joined the group three years ago and looks forward to attending rehearsals each week.
"The atmosphere it creates every Thursday is just amazing," he said.
"And that is the great part of it, the enjoyment that so many of us get, that normally we wouldn't get it.
"I have had a wonderful time, it has been terrific."
Mr Roberts said he was excited about performing at the Capital Theatre.
"We get butterflies in our stomachs the same as everyone else," he said.
Choir member David Humphreys said joining Forever Young was "the best thing he had ever done".
"It is very uplifting," he said.
"It is a wonderful atmosphere."
Ms Dusseljee said the concert will be held on October 9.
Choir member Bing Lilburne said he had already purchased 12 tickets for his family and friends.
"They have all promised that they would pay me back but I never got it back last year, so I am going to miss out again," he said.
